A woman suffered an allergic reaction to penicillin, endangering her life after having sex with her partner.

Doctors in Spain, who treated the 31-year-old, called for all those patients with allergy to the drug to be "aware" of the potential risk of oral sex.

The unidentified woman swallowed the sperm of her beloved, and then began to vomit, making breathing difficult as well as filling the body with acne.

The patient, from Alicante to Spain, ended up in hospital with an anaphylactic shock suspect. It is unclear how long after the act of sexual activity she asked for help.

She found that she had allergies to penicillin but denied having taken the medicine, or any unusual food, before she acted.

Doctors excluded a rare sperm allergy when the woman admitted she had never had any symptoms in her previous sexual encounters.

Doctors then found that her 32-year-old partner had taken amoxicillin-clavulanic acid - a form of penicillin - to treat an ear infection.
